Distinguished Engineer, Optum
A Distinguished Engineer with Optum, Rick works broadly across strategic imperatives, including machine learning, genomics, blockchain, IoT, and cybersecurity, to help people live healthier lives and make healthcare work better. He was formerly the most prolific inventor in IBM history, and has completed engagements involving Cloud, AI, IoT, and Innovation/Invention strategy in over 30 countries.
Previously, Rick served as the Client Innovation Leader for IBM’s Watson IoT Division, establishing partnerships for client business transformation. In this capacity, he worked with partners’ senior technical and business leaders to define transformative applications for cognitive IoT. He conceived and articulated novel uses of learning systems in the ambient environment, and engages engineering teams to ensure successful delivery of these capabilities. He broadly drove executive and customer communications, outlining strategy, approaches, and direction.
