Neela White is a Senior Program Associate for the Education and Human Resources Programs (EHR) and the Center for Advancing Science & Engineering Capacity (CASEC) at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She currently works on programs including the AAAS-Lemelson Invention Ambassador Program, the AAAS Marion Milligan-Mason Awards for Women in the Chemical Sciences, and the International Travel Awards to Gender Summits. Prior to her work with CASEC, she served as a Program Associate for the AAAS District of Columbia program. She handled day-to-day aspects for two federally-funded programs, GET SET (Global Education for Tomorrow in Science, Engineering, and Technology) and DC ACTS (DC Advancing Competencies in Technology and Science). Her areas of focus have been within the sectors of invention; innovation; Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education; international research collaboration; and diversity in science.
Prior to AAAS, she worked at the Brookings Institute as the Administrator for the Center on Social and Economic Dynamics. She also served as the Public Affairs Manager and Board Liaison for the Center for Excellence in Education. Ms. White earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Temple University in 2003
